About Dr. Neil J. Patel, MD, MBA
Dr. Neil J. Patel is a neurologist dual board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology and in Brain Injury Medicine, and dual fellowship-trained in Sports Neurology and Clinical Informatics. He practices sports neurology with a focus on concussion, persisting symptoms after concussion, and headache and migraine in athletes.
His work centers on one question: how do we protect, measure, and optimize the athlete brain — both in the moment on the sideline, and across a lifetime? That question runs from acute sideline decisions through return-to-play and return-to-learn planning, into the long-tail management of symptoms that persist for months, and out to the policy and data systems that determine whether any of it happens consistently at scale.
