Neil J. Patel MD, MBA was born and raised in New York, growing up in Long Island and New York City. He completed his Neurology internship and residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, while completing rotations at Mount Sinai, New York University, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.  

He then completed the prestigious fellowship in Sports Neurology and Pain Medicine at the world renowned Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles, California. 

He has had extensive experience working with high school, collegiate, and professional athletes from around the world. He has covered sidelines for football, basketball, soccer, boxing, and mixed martial arts.
